Why do people always answer with go see a Dentist?
I was asked the following question the other day..
If someone asks a veterinary question, you’ll always get some answerer who says “Go see a vet”.
And if someone asks a dental question, you’ll always get some answerer who says “Go see a dentist”.
Do these people who answer in that way actually think the questioner never thought of that?
My Reply was..
Well although a very simple answer it is probably your best one. Although i would suggest it needs improving on. For example I would suggest that “Call your own dentist” is a better option. They know your dental history and can advise far better than anyone else. If not available your next best option is to contact any dentist, they can assess your problem far better than a post on the internet.
Although we provide general information on this site our primary goal is helping you find a dentist.

It is if somebody has a cavity, or their gums are bleeding, or they have an abscess. When it comes to your health, you really shouldn’t mess around.
I doubt it. I often answer questions on here this way, and I say “Go see a doctor” not because I don’t think the person thought of that, but because it’s the only way the questioner will:
a) Get a correct answer, and
b) Fix their problem, and
c) Avoid worse problems (assuming they would otherwise do nothing or only follow advice from Yahoo Answerers)
