Q&A: How can I get over a large fear of dentistry I have???
Question by Emily R: How can I get over a large fear of dentistry I have???
In less than 24 hours I have to go down to my dentists and have a root canal done on my tooth
I’m scared to heck! I’ve always had a bad paranoia with dentists too! Can anyone offer advice/help?

I had the same issue. I cried every time I went to the dentist up until my 18th birthday. I got over it by having someone I love and trust with me in the room holding my hand. Also, my biggest fear was the unknown of how bad it was going to hurt. Once I saw that it was not as bad as I imagined most of the fear went away. Plus I found a really nice dentist who understood my fear and helped put me at ease.

I have had root canal done twice in the last few months. I have always been to the dentist every 6 months for a check-up. I was so surprised that I had to have this work done on teeth. It will not be as bad as you think. Just ‘grin and bear it’! Sorry about the pun. You will be fine.
then you have 3 options
either commit suicide in less that 24 hours
cancel your appointment
or
DEAL WITH YOUR FEAR
and you will see it will leave you alone
like someone says
nothing is more fearful than fear it self
something like that
If it’s a real phobia you’re asking too late, the treatments are more long term than 24 hours.
You’ll probably just have to grin and bear it. If you can think of something else while it’s going on that helps distract you. (I recited psalms when giving blood).
well if your tooth hurt bad enough you would be glad to go there just to get the dam thing out
really?? why, i can never understand that. Its just a tooth. Worst that can happen is it will hurt or sting a bit then its over.
I have to go to the dentist all the time and i couldnt care less.
